Nation’s Building: Delta Speaker Guwor Seeks More Diaspora Participation

The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor has commended Nigerians in diaspora for their continued desire to contribute to Nigeria’s growth.


Rt Hon Guwor at a ceremony organized by Nigerians In Diaspora Organization Americas, NIDOA, in Atlanta Georgia, USA, called for more collaboration towards achieving a strong, stable and prosperous Nation.

In his remarks at the event put together by the Atlanta Chapter of NIDOA to mark Nigeria’s 64th Independence anniversary, the Speaker enjoined the people to remain committed to the development of their father land as they gathered to celebrate their connections to Nigeria.


Saying that their contributions, expertise, and resources are vital to the progress of the nation, Guwor charged Nigerians abroad to harness their collective potentials to drive socio-economic transformation in Nigeria.


The Speaker represented by his Chief Press Secretary, CPS, Mr Nkem Nwaeke, commended the people who are from different states and tribes in Nigeria but united by heritage and the desire to contribute to the country’s growth and development.

“As we celebrate this milestone, let us reflect on our collective aspirations for a prosperous Nigeria. We must continue to work together to address our nation’s challenges and harness opportunities for growth.


“As a people, we must honour the nation’s progress, and every one of us have pivotal roles to play in promoting the nation’s interests globally”, Guwor emphasized.


He charged all to do more in fostering economic ties, cultural exchange, and knowledge transfer between Nigeria and the United States of America.


Rt Hon Guwor who is the National Treasurer, Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria, also urged Nigerians residence abroad to explore ways to invest in the country, particularly in Delta State, to boost economic growth and job creation.


The Speaker congratulated a Deltan, Dr Victor Azuka Ubani, a US based Medical Practitioner and Philanthropist who was honoured at the ceremony with the “Outstanding Citizen in Leadership Award” in recognition of his commitment and unwavering dedication for a better society.


He described the award as well deserved, maintaining that the achievement demonstrates the excellence and resilience that define Deltans.


The event held at Rendezvous Lounge, Pleasanthill, Duluth, Atlanta Georgia, saw many dignitaries with America and Nigeria dual citizenship gathered to celebrate one another and seek ways for a better Nigeria.

A US based charity organization, “Azuka and Ify Foundation”, has donated three thousand packs of multiple micronutrient supplement to the Lagos State government for onward distribution to pregnant women across the local government areas of the state. Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, Dr Victor Azuka Ubani, said each of the packs contained 180 tablets and that the gesture was a community based initiative to improve maternal health through free distribution of essential prenatal vitamins.

Over 800 persons in some selected towns and villages in Nigeria benefited from the end-of-the-year humanitarian support services embarked upon by a non-governmental organization, Azuka and Ify Foundation. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the USA-based charity organization, Dr Victor Azuka Ubani said the gesture was in line with one of the core mandates of the Foundation as well as detects of Christmas and New Year celebrations. The beneficiaries include orphanages, widows, physically challenged and the elderly.

A US-based Charity Organisation, Ify and Azuka Foundation has expressed happiness that an indigent student of Medicine, Michael Obuseh, who it picked interest to see through Medical Science programme at the University is now a Medical Doctor. Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, Dr Victor Azuka Ubani while reacting to the Thursday’s (1/12/2022) Swearing-in and Oath taking of Micheal Obuseh as a qualified Medical Doctor at the College of Health Sciences, Delta State University, Abraka, said the successful completion of the six-year academic programme was worthy of celebration. Dr Ubani explained that although Ify-Azuka Foundation has over ten persons on its scholarship scheme, Micheal was unique following his determination for academic excellence and dexterity towards making the Foundation proud.
